The GSC racing lunch was upon us again and we pulled out the big guns with champion trainers, champion jockeys and some super talented form analysts. This was a day for the racing tragic.

As always Jason Richardson led the charge and did an incredible job of ensuring the day was fun but reminding guests of the cause.

We were lucky to be joined by Mirabel Alumni Brandon who shared his story of growing up with his grandparents due to parental illicit drug use and the support that Mirabel has provided throughout his life. Brandon is now a professional dancer. His dance lessons while growing up were funded by the Grassroots Sports Club.

Our first guest was son of the legendary Colin Hayes and father of the up-and-coming Ben Hayes, David Hayes. In his 29-year training career, David has trained in excess of 4000 winners in Australia and Hong Kong, including 95 Group One wins. David became the youngest trainer ever to be inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame in 2008. He was a wealth of knowledge and full of stories.

Corey Brown gave us an intimate look into ups and downs of the racing game. Winner of two Melbourne Cups on Shocking in 2009 and Rekindling 2017 he is currently recovering from injuries sustained in a race fall. They dint get much tougher.

The Group 1 performance of the day went to our racing panel of Mick Sharkie, Ben Hayes and Grace Ramage who along with Richo gave an excellent Caulfield Guineas and Spring Carnival preview.  The Shark should give the racing game away and try comedy. Grace is a superstar.

As always, the punters left wanting more – see you at the next GSC event.
