Another ripping lunch @ 45 Downstairs and the venue staff turned it on early with bottomless service of icy cold Kirin beer and Coldstream cider stubbies compliments of our great sponsors. Russell ‘Robbo’ Robertson got the crowd warmed up with some tunes and a little Irish twist for our St Patrick’s Day enthusiasts.
As a Premiership Captain, All Australian Captain, Brownlow Medallist and Hall of Famer they don’t get much bigger. Since his retirement Chris Judd has captivated us with his opinions, insight and balanced view of the football game and fraternity within. Jake Norton did a great job with a candid and quick witted conversational interview with the great man…..even if the “First word that comes into your head” segment didn’t quite come off! With a fair bit of discussion going on right now about the West Coast Eagles and conjecture surrounding their glory years, Judd openly but astutely added “It was less than Optimal”. The panel was then joined by Paul Conners and Darcy Vescio. Paul gave us a little snapshot into life as a player manager and how it all started under the wing of Chicken Nixon. Darcy added some real insight into the AFLW and its inaugural launch success.
Jake and Crackers did a terrific job as MC for the day – well done guys! Huge thanks goes out to Juddy for again donating his time and helping us secure other guests. Juddy has had a long standing relationship with the Mirabel Foundation where he has volunteered for several years. Thank you also to our major sponsors and good friends at Lion and Spicer Thoroughbreds. Most importantly we thank you for your attendance and generosity without whom the amount of money raised would not be possible. This event raised a total of $22,152 on the day.
Well last year the AFL lunch @ 45 Downstairs sold out in 48 hours, this year just 24 hours. Better get in quick next year I say!!
…….See you at the next GSC event!
